Selling

What happens when an auction ends?

At the end of an auction-style listing, several important actions take place to determine the outcome. Here's what happens:

Time Expires: As the designated end time for the auction-style listing approaches and finally arrives, the auction officially concludes, halting any further bidding activity. Should there be bids in the final moments, an automatic 2-minute extension kicks in, providing all interested buyers a fair chance to secure the item. This extension mechanism is specifically designed to prevent bid sniping and ensure a fair opportunity for all bidders to win the auction.

Highest Bidder: The highest bidder at the end of the auction-style listing is determined as the winner. This is the individual who placed the highest bid before the auction concluded.

Reserve Price: If the auction-style listing has a reserve price set by the seller, it's important to note that the item will only be sold if the highest bid meets or exceeds this reserve price. If the reserve price is not met, the item remains unsold, and the seller has the option to relist the item or consider other offers.

Winning Notification: Once the auction-style listing ends, the winning bidder will receive a notification informing them that they have won the auction. This notification will include instructions on how to proceed with the payment and further details on completing the transaction.

Payment: The winning bidder is expected to make the payment for the item they have won. The winner has 24 hours to pay for the item. It's essential for the winning bidder to follow the payment instructions promptly to ensure a smooth transaction.

Seller's Responsibilities: The seller is responsible for packaging the item securely and arranging its shipment to the buyer's specified address. The seller should communicate the shipping details and provide a tracking number to the buyer to ensure transparency and a smooth delivery process.

Buyer's Responsibilities: As the winning bidder, it is crucial to complete the payment promptly and provide the seller with accurate shipping information. It's also advisable to stay in communication with the seller to track the progress of the shipment and address any concerns or queries.

Item Unpaid: In the event that an item remains unpaid, we'll promptly inform both the buyer and seller about the situation. Buyers who consistently fail to complete their purchases post-auction may face the risk of account suspension. To support our sellers in these instances, we strongly encourage relisting the item, offering another chance for a successful transaction.

Feedback and Ratings: After the successful completion of the transaction, both the buyer and the seller have the opportunity to provide feedback and ratings about their experience with each other.
